At Rush Skate Park we are dedicated to creating a safe place for action sports enthusiasts of all ages and abilities to practice, socialise and enjoy themselves.
Every year, Rush Skate Park is visited by thousands of people, all of whom come to experience our excellent skate park facilities.
Running a skate park, as we have discovered over the years, is an expensive project to undertake. On average it costs us just over £10,000 per week to remain open, a staggering amount for a self-funded, small business. Contrary to popular opinions, Rush Skate Park receives absolutely no external funding and is entirely self sufficient as a Community Interest Company (C.I.C).
On top of this, many of you will be aware by this point that we must relocate our current facility. As of right now, we have been offered land just behind the Stratford Park Leisure. This has been offered to us by Stroud Council on the condition that we can pass a planning application. This may seem like a simple task, however, running a planning application of this scale will incur costs of around £200,000, which we must find before the end of June 2019. A daunting task to face alone.
This is where you come in.
We are asking you to help us keep one of the largest skate parks in Europe alive by encouraging users of the park to donate anything they can to our cause. Every bit of support you can offer in this manner is extremely helpful and allows us to continue down the path of providing action sports enthusiasts of all ages, skill and disciplines with an excellent and invaluable facility.
Your donation will help us to carry on providing for the local, national and international community for whom we welcome to Rush Skate Park year in year out, as well as allowing us to continue working towards bringing a brand new, state of the art, facility to Stroud, Gloucestershire.
Please help us to continue to make a difference. A donation button can be found below, we truly appreciate all of your support!
- The Rush Team
Goal – to keep the RUSH dream alive
To build a world class indoor/outdoor park, providing facilities for competitions, training for Olympic athletes, physio, training trampolines, dedicated beginners park, parents relaxation/business area, meeting rooms, excellent spectator facilities and cafe.
Step 1 - find a new site
Large enough to have indoor/outdoor areas and good parking
Existing buildings pillar free and in excess of 8 meters internal height
Good access for riders to travel to the park independently
Within Stroud District ideally
After being offered many sites across the county and pursuing 14 of these options.....
April 2018 - agreement to apply to move Rush to Stratford Park, Stroud
- THE PERFECT SITE! - Saving approximately £2million because SDC have suggested we can pay a peppercorn rent for the ground.
Step 2 – ObTAIN PLANNING PERMISSION
We have estimated this will cost around £200k
Full plans, Site surveys - there are 19 surveys to be completed, planning application fees and so on.
Step 3 – BUILD THE PARK
Build the Park - currently estimated at £7million. Securing planning permission will give access to large funding bodies and private supporters who need to know the RUSH project has the go ahead before committing their significant funds. We already have substantial private pledges and we are in talks that will secure more. This can be done!
